July All-Levels Ride

This is a lovely scenic ride that is easy enough to allow for conversation, but with a couple of hills to get your blood pumping along the way. The roads are very quiet, with not much traffic but we will follow usual protocols for alerting fellow riders of any oncoming vehicles and riding single file when sharing the road with cars. The attached map shows the route -- the green pin marks the point where we will turn off of the trail onto the road.

Location: Lang-Hastings section of the Trans Canada Trail + River Rd. detour
Meeting place: Green P parking lot on Asphodel 7th Line, just west of Hastings
Distance: Approx. 20 km
Duration: Approx. 1 hr
Type: Fine gravel trail, quiet roads with some gravel
Route: We will head West from the parking lot along the trail until we come to River Rd., at which point we will ride north and then west along River, until it reconnects with the trail. There is the option to turn back and ride the trail to our starting point from here, or for those who want to do the full 20 km, we will continue west along the trail until we reach the tunnel at Peterborough County Rd 2. Then we'll ride back to Hastings along the trail.
Weather: We will ride in light rain but cancel if there is heavy rain or a thunderstorm

Notes:
Please ensure your bike is in working order. Helmets are recommended. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Ride single file on roads when there is traffic.
Do not pass other cyclists on the right. Shoulder check when passing; be sure to give warning (bell or voice) when passing.
Be kind and courteous.
